Lena: you should start numbering with ‘01’ and not ‘1’. If you don’t use the ‘01’ all the tracks will be numberd as follows: everything starting with a ‘1’ than everything with ‘2’ and so on.

I have a big problem, have had older iPods, and it has worked perfectley with my audiobooks, mostly CD’s from the library. Now I got a new one (5th generation) and listning to audiobooks is now a big problem. The tracks, which are in the right order i iTunes, appear completey mixed in the iPod. It will work if I number each track name, as long as it is not more than 9 tracks, othewise no 10 will appear after 1! Using a-z does not work. does anybody have any advice? Or is the iPod only for audiobooks bought on iTunes or if you have a Mac? Pleae help! Lena

can they be synced to anything other than an ipod?? such as an lg phone?

Hope you can help me. I’m entirely at a loss re managing my audiobooks on my ipod. I have no idea how to save an audiobook in the library but get it off the actual ipod once I’ve listened to it. I tried this recently – deleted it from the ipod but now cannot seem to get the audiobook back. In other words, I don’t want to keep them all on the ipod because I’m running out of space, but I do want to be able to hear them again should I decide to do that. I’ve also tried unticking them in itunes and then syncing, but that didn’t do anything. Your thoughts?

Thank you so much for taking the time to explain all this about iTunes 8 so simply and well! I’m only interested in using an iPod for audiobooks – and I had given up entirely because I couldn’t solve the problems you describe. Then my husband bought me a digital radio and I thought I would try again – only to become frustrated and cross – until I found your site and the solutions you have provided. It is much appreciated.
